'Splody went BOOM!

Gah! This new ratings system at BlogExplosion. It's so involved. It's now an 11-step process. That seems like too much of a commitment. As J would say, "I need space!" All of these questions. I feel like I'm taking the SATs again. But this time I'm not in Kennedy High School so I don't have to worry about imminent death.

I'm not liking this word rating thing. You could put anything there. I could rate someone "lemon" or "itchy". What does that mean?

And the grammar police were particularly harsh with me. A "1" because I put "their" instead of "her" in the previous post? A bit rough, don't you think? Granted, I'm not all grammar queen, but I think I deserve a bit higher than a "1". At least you get the gist of what I'm saying, right? I'm not all "U r so not r0xx0rs!1!!"

I'm not happy. Not so much about the grammar thing. Just the whole...thing. I fear change! This is strange and new and probably evil. Must crush.

Hmm.. Maybe I did deserve that "1".

Its funny, I read 'Splody went BOOM!' and decided to write you a BE review, but it was so long-winded that I gave up. You weblog is great because you write with humour. However, you close and resolve your posts so I never see the need to comment (except now!). The weblog logo is too big and takes up too much vertical web space; I like to get into the content as soon as a weblog loads.

I think the BE review process is an improvement from the old rating system, but, as you state, it is 'involved'. Therefore I have decided to write one BE review a month and blog about it on my own weblog.

Thank you for your comments! That's a review I can understand. I've been eyeing my header for a while now. The space thing has bothered me as well. I think in a future re-design-- a re-design is never too far off-- I'll shrink the height.

I'm not sure how to go about the resolved posts issue. That's too much a part of my compulsively neat, tie it with a bow nature. I grew up on sitcoms, so I'll blame them. And, to be completely honest, I'm always (pleasantly) surprised when anyone does comment. I tend to forget that people read this. I'm glad you appreciate my sense of humor.

I do understand that there were problems with the old ratings system. It had become a popularity contest of sorts. I do understand that they made this more involved as to cut down on these popularity votes, but I'm afraid that they went to an extreme. I do hope they find a happy medium sometime soon. I like the constructive criticism I get, but I'm afraid that this will scare people away.

I'm on board. They should at least allow the old method as an alternative in the event we don't have two and a half hours to review one site.
